Lone working safety without dedicated alarms or devices
A straightforward, phone-based approach to protecting staff who work alone.
One simple, automated safety net
Lookout Call helps organisations meet their duty of care with a phone-based lone worker safety system. The service has been used across the UK by charities, housing associations, healthcare organisations and other employers.
Lone workers use their phone to set a timed countdown, request a safety call or raise an emergency alarm. If they are overdue or need assistance, the system automatically contacts nominated responders.
Lookout Call monitors the safety of over 18,000 people who are using the system, including staff working for Cambridge University, Parkinson's UK and Newcastle NHS Trust.
People should feel protected, not tracked.
Lookout Call's core phone-based product is designed to avoid unnecessary extra devices. Its approach also purposefully excludes continuous GPS tracking and automatic man-down sensing. This helps address workers' concerns about intrusive monitoring, false alarms and managing the charge of multiple devices.

LookOut Call mobile app
The iPhone app gives workers access to safety monitoring, timed countdowns, an emergency alarm and optional check calls. It is free to download but requires an organisation that already subscribes to Lookout Call.
An overdue alarm is handled by the service's monitoring infrastructure, so the alert can still be triggered even when the worker's phone is unavailable.

Developed from a real-world need
Lookout Call was created following a lone worker incident involving a utility company in 1999, when an employee was injured and remained unaccounted for. C3 developed the system in consultation with the NHS as an automated alternative to informal buddy arrangements.
